Takt Capital is a self-funded search vehicle led by Nikko Mason, seeking to acquire and personally operate one profitable manufacturing business in machining, metal fabrication, or precision assembly for the long term.
Takt Capital is not a private equity firm, a strategic acquirer, or a broker for someone else's capital. I am a single operator, funding this search personally, looking to buy one business, move into it, and run it day-to-day for the long term. It's a meaningful difference for an owner who wants the business, and the people who built it, taken care of after they step away.
| Takt Capital | Private Equity | Strategic Buyer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your Legacy | 100% of my time and attention on one company | One of many portfolio companies | Absorbed into a larger organization |
| Timeline | Indefinite — built to hold and run long-term | 3–5 year hold, then resale | Immediate integration |
| Day 1 Post-Close | I am on the shop floor operating the business | Hired CEO installed, strategy set by the firm | Systems, brand, and staff consolidated |
| Decision Making | One principal, direct and fast | Investment committee approval | Corporate development process |
| Goal | Preserve and grow what you built | Maximize return, position for resale | Fit the acquirer's existing operations |
| Seller Involvement | Optional transition consulting, on your terms | Often requires a rollover or earn-out | Typically none after close |
These are guidelines, not hard cutoffs — if a business is close on most of these but not all, it's still worth a conversation.
At Tesla and Apple, I spent over a decade in technical operations — not just evaluating factories from a spreadsheet, but running the floor, standing up production lines and driving quality and cost discipline on complex products. That background shaped what I'm looking for: a business I can walk into, understand at the process level, and run hands-on — not a passive investment I manage from a distance.
Takt Capital is self-funded, which means I move quickly and make the final call directly. The acquisition will be financed through a combination of SBA 7(a) debt and committed personal equity, and I'm glad to provide proof of funds to any broker or seller upon request. When I make an offer, it's because I intend to close and personally run the business for years to come.
Every conversation is confidential. I'm happy to sign an NDA before reviewing any details.
Whether you're actively exploring a sale or just want to understand what a search-fund buyer looks like in practice, I'd welcome the conversation. If you're a broker with a manufacturing or metal-fab client who fits this profile, I'm easy to work with and ready to move quickly.
I evaluate every opportunity personally — there's no associate screening deals before they reach me, and no committee slowing down a response.
